Better Education - Better life

One of our programmes, Better Education, Better Life, is currently running in Barkerend schools, supporting young people with limited opportunities for academic guidance at home. Through this initiative, students from low-income backgrounds or first-generation immigrant families participate in tutorials and workshops designed to enhance their knowledge, skills, and GCSE attainment.

Through this programme, students from low-income backgrounds or first-generation immigrant families receive tailored tutorials and workshops designed to boost their knowledge and develop new skills. Each session is led by a PhD tutor specializing in the subject, offering expert guidance and serving as a powerful role model to inspire students toward higher education.

One notable aspect of the programme is that PhD tutors often come from the same ethnic minority backgrounds as the students they mentor. This shared experience makes the tutors’ academic journey more relatable and achievable. Seeing role models who have navigated similar challenges helps students build confidence, set ambitious goals, and believe in their potential for academic and personal success.

As a result, the programme has encouraged several students to pursue higher studies by fostering a culture of academic aspiration and self-belief. Many participants have expressed newfound enthusiasm for learning and a clearer vision of their educational paths, motivated by the support and success stories shared by their mentors.

Encouraging Positive Mental Health

By fostering supportive learning environments, we help students build resilience, develop positive mental health, and manage stress effectively. Through personalized tutorials, structured study plans, and one-on-one mentoring, students gain the knowledge and skills they need to navigate their educational journey with confidence. This supportive approach promotes a sense of security and encourages learners to stay motivated and focused on their goals.

Role Modelling and Career Pathways

Personalized guidance from experienced professionals plays a crucial role in shaping students’ career aspirations. Through our programme, students engage with role models from diverse professional backgrounds who provide tailored advice and career insights. These mentors share their career journeys, offering practical guidance on educational and professional development. By seeing relatable success stories, students gain clarity about potential career paths and are motivated to pursue ambitious goals. This exposure helps demystify various professions and creates a bridge between academic learning and real- world career opportunities, inspiring students to envision and work toward a successful future.
